Bible in 120 days!

Lately I've been feeling a stirring to spend more time in the Word.

One of the best ways I've found to do that is to have a measurable amount of scripture to read daily. In the past I've done a Bible in a year plan, as well as Bible in 90 days. While both of those options are amazing, simply because it gets you reading, I was wanting to try something else.

Crossway.org has an infographic that shows just how much time it would actually take to read the entire Bible. Reading for just 12 minutes a day you can read the entire Bible in one year. In just 25 minutes a day you can read it in six months, and in just 50 minutes a day you can read it in three months. With just an hour of reading a day you could read through the entire Bible four times a year!

How many things do we waste an hour of our time on daily? What frivolous things could you remove in order to spend more time with God in His word?

For me that's been giving up FB and idle time scrolling on IG. Its so easy to get lost and waste time there. A much better use of my time, and a way to help me have better mental health, is to spend that time in the Word.

With all of that in mind I came up with the idea to read the Bible chronologically in 120 days (4 months). You can find the printable to read along with me here

I know it sounds like a large feat but really the main goal is to just spend a good bit of time in the Word. Doing this would require anywhere from 35-45 minutes a day. Surely I have that much time to give to God.

On days where maybe I can't carve out all of that time at once I will break my reading up throughout the day so that I'm still getting it in regardless of what's happening in my life.

Another thing is, I plan to look at this this goal as something to enjoy the journey of, not just a sprint to the finish line. So if I miss a day or fall behind I'll just keep chugging along. It's about spending time with God not just checking of boxes on a to do list.

I'd love for you to join me

If you do let me know on Instagram using #biblein120days. I'll be posting a daily check-in for accountability.

You can start whenever you'd like, I made the reading chart without dates for this purpose.

I'll be starting Sunday January 17th, 2021 and I'll share daily anything that jumps out at me.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! - Psalm 119:103

May you be blessed as you spend time with the Lord in His Word!
